SA needs to support its CNN Hero nominee and cast millions of votesProudly South African is calling on the nation to come out in numbers and cast their votes for Thulani Madondo, a Soweto man, who recently made it to the Top 10 of the 2012 CNN Hero of the Year Award.
“There are 19 days left to vote on the CNN website. As Proud South Africans, we have to come out in our millions and rally behind Thulani. It’s such a credit to our country that he has been nominated for a global award that honours ordinary people who do extraordinary things to improve the lives of others,” said Proudly SA’s CEO, Adv. Leslie Sedibe.
30-year-old Madondo is the director and co-founder of the Kliptown Youth Programme in Soweto, Gauteng, which provides 400 children with school fee support, supplementary tutoring, meals and extra-mural activities.
“The 2012 CNN Hero of the Year will be determined by the number of votes cast for each nominee. By casting votes for Thulani, every South African can help him secure additional funding for the Kliptown Youth Programme. Let’s get online, vote for Thulani and support this good cause,” added Sedibe.
Voting on the CNN website will continue till Wednesday, 28 November 2012. The ten finalists will feature in a live broadcast on 2 December, called CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute. The CNN Hero of the Year will receive 250-thousand Dollars to continue the work for which they were nominated.
