Table View community helps Good Samaritan fight her own cancer battle
The community of Table View is rallying behind Suzanne Long who has championed many causes for her community and is now battling with cancer.
Suzanne has organised cleanups campaigns in the area, rallying support for care projects and arranging lifts for those in need.
Speaking to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies, Long says she believes that in order to receive you should give.
It stems back to my parents, they were big givers.— Suzanne Long
When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 I was given a second chance at life. I promised my mentor that I will do whatever I could to help other people.— Suzanne Long
Table View resident Rochelle Kermis says Suzanne is always willing to help other people without complaining.
She says they have run a couple of auctions to help get Suzanne's samples to be tested in Belgium to see what kind of chemotherapy would be good for her and that was a success.
Now they are raising money to help her with her chemotherapy because her medical aid has run dry.
If you look at Suzanne Facebook page, there's a line which says 'dying to live'. That is profound coming from a person who has her own battles.— Rochelle Kermis, Table View resident
She does all this selflessly and she doesn't complain but always smiling.— Rochelle Kermis, Table View resident
