UCT student builds mobile app to deal second-hand textbooks

A UCT student has built a mobile app to help make the buying and selling of textbooks cheaper and more convenient.

Quillo is the name of the app that allows students to trade second-hand textbooks.

UCT student Tamir Shklaz, the brains child behind the app, says he was motivated to create the platform because of his own struggles to find textbooks.

I'm currently in third -year, studying electrical and computer engineering.

Creating Quillo was a very big challenge with a lot of sleepless nights. I would do it again.

Millennials are constantly on their phones. It offers convenience.

You can whip out your phone or go on the website and find your textbook in seconds, as opposed to standing in a queue at a store.

We think we're going to unlock a lot of unused resources in terms of people previously weren't selling their textbooks.
