Written by: Lengwadishang Ramphele

This is one of the city's initiative to help homeless people have a secure place to sleep in harsh temperatures like have been experienced over the past few days with heavy rains and temperatures reaching a low of 6 degrees at night.

According to Mayco member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, The Space will have beds‚ ablution facilities and storage lockers. It is designed to accommodate 230 people.

The intention of this project is to address the shortage of beds at shelters because some homeless people refuse to ever leaving the streets.
