Sea Point community help homeless man find job

Written by: Lengwadishang Ramphele

Like many people Johannes Tsoeu arrived in Cape Town on the promise of a job picking grapes on one of the farms, but when he arrived, there was no such an opening and he was left stranded.

Eventually he made his way to Sea Point, where he was living in night shelters and often sleeping rough.

But upon meeting Johannes at the beach , a number of local residents assisted him in getting a job and getting him off the streets.

Watch a video of Johannes' story below:

Peter Greenwall made a short video of his chat to Johannes which he then shared on social media; Toni Meyer wrote up a CV for him, and Essie (Estelle) Mathee from Quinz Quality Maintenance saw the video and offered Johannes a job as well as a place to stay in the meantime.

Essie would like for more business to come in as it would mean she can do similar deeds for more skilled people who are currently living on the streets.

Her offices are based in Woodstock.
