South African grannies team makes veteran league championship

The grannies soccer team from Limpopo, Vakhegula - Vakhegula have been invited to play in a veterans league championship at the WorldCup in Russia on Wednesday.

Herbert Shiluvana, Secretary of the Mopani Sports Confederation shares the history behind the team.

He says this is not the first time they will be jetting out of the country for a soccer match.

When they started up, it was something unheard of and then it spread around Mopane has a whole.

They were in Brazil in 2016 so it is not the first time they have headed out.

He says the team is in good shape for Wednesday's game.

Health wise, they are as eager as teenagers.
