South African-born reporter Peter Hirschberg is one of the many winners to accept a 2018 Pulitzer Prize this week.

The Pulitzer Prize is a prestigious award which recognises excellence in newspaper journalism, literary achievements and musical composition.

He and others were honoured at an award ceremony held at Columbia University in New York City on Wednesday.

Hirschberg and his colleagues at news agency Reuters won the Pulitzer Prize in international reporting for coverage of Rodrigo Duterte's drug war.

Hirschberg is the Asia Investigative Editor at Reuters and is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
