Adventurers to climb Everest for SA children with burn injuries

Written by: Megan Ellis

In order to raise funds for South African children with burn injuries, a team of adventurers is set to climb Mount Everest.

The expedition is the result of a collaboration between the Avela Foundation and the Smile Foundation. The climb to Everest's base camp is set to start on 30 April and will continue until 13 May.

Funds raised by Avela go towards providing innovative technology and equipment to help those with burn injuries, as well as sponsoring treatments for burn victims.

"The Avela Foundation provides hope to those kids who are in desperate need of physical as well as emotional care after having suffered life-threatening or debilitating burn injuries."

Cami Palomo, Founder of Avela Foundation

"Children are magnificent, vibrant and full of life, but sometimes life doesn’t treat them kindly and that’s where we come in by giving them hope through love and support. We do everything in our power to make their lives easier and help them reach their true potential."

Cami Palomo, Founder of Avela Foundation
