Cape entrepreneurs offer design graduates a business boost

Written by: Lengwadishang Ramphele

Gideon Malherbe and his wife Elizabeth Galloway co-founded Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design after realising that a lot of design graduates did not want existing jobs in the fashion industry but want to start their own businesses.

The couple say that the challenge was many lacked the experience and financial support needed to start their own businesses and be able to sustain them.

Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design is a mentorship program aimed at helping design graduates develop the capacity to take on responsibilities and associated risks as well as providing financial assistance, until such time that they are able to do it on their own.

We work very closely with these graduates and provide them with the support, starting very small and allowing them to take on more responsibility as they develop their capacity.
