[LISTEN] SADGT: The P.L.A.Y program is combating illiteracy in SA using games
Ayanda Sithole is the Marketing Coordinator at P.L.A.Y and she, along with her partners are attempting to improve literacy in South Africa using games.
Sithole says that the P.L.A.Y program is an in-service training for nursery schools and crèches where practitioners can get the skills to implement play based learning in the classroom.
We at P.L.A.Y believe that children learn best when they are playing.

The biggest thing for us is to improve literacy and math’s skills in the country says Sithole. She adds that the P.L.A.Y program seeks to assist teachers in getting rid of their students early learning barriers.

The skills are there; we just want to transfer the bland environment in the classroom.
