[LISTEN] #SADGT with founder of Kwame Diamonds, Musibudi “Jo” Mathole

Written by: Bontle Ndlovu

In this segment of South Africans Doing Great Things, founder of Kwame Diamonds, Musibudi “Jo” Mathole chats about how she got involved in the diamond business, and highlights some negative stereotypes surrounding diamonds in Africa.

Mathole says that she initially started out as a stockbroker because she was fascinated by the fact that there were no female stock brokers working in the stock exchange.

I then realized that it was time for a new venture and that’s when I started my journey in the diamond business says Mathole.

Mathole says that when you sell a diamond to a couple, you become part of their story because diamonds are a beautiful commodity that gravitates towards love.

You watch movies and there’s always criminality around them.

Diamonds cannot be responsible for such atrocities, there has to be a way so I thought that South Africa is a beautiful country and we have a chance to turn this thing around.
