More CT neighbourhoods banding together on water-saving plans, says blogger

Blogger and editor Helen Moffett says more local neighbourhoods appear to be pooling together their resources as Cape Town braces for Day Zero.

The City of Cape Town has just announced day zero has been moved back to 9 July.

Water saving tips have been pouring in for Moffett, who's been documenting some of the advice on her blog.

Moffett says more suggestions have been emerging on how to organise neighbourhoods amid the water crisis.

She believes that the communal attitude around water-saving could help further push back Day Zero.

People are looking at how you can take those resources and pool them around the neighbourhood for people who don't have... they simply don't have the money for clever water-saving devices much less water harvesting infrastructure.

I'm seeing some excellent tips on how to overlap with existing neighbourhood watch or existing community schemes.

Start mapping your neighbourhoods, keep it to a managable size, work out the boundaries and make sure that everyone and every address is accounted for.
