Nation Builder Top Tip: Thick skin = good working relationships

Written by: diannem

According Jay Strydom, the CEO of Refilwe, the secret to success in the social development space is to have “rhino skin”. He says that we too often get offended or upset within a relationship, but it is key to endure through the tough times that all relationships experience.

By having “rhino skin” and persevering through the process, we can form longer-lasting and more successful relationships {with partners on all sides of the social development space, from funding partners to NPO partners to the beneficiaries}.

Strydom is the CEO of Refilwe Community Project, a multi-focused registered Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation that was founded in 1991 and serves many of the communities in Lanseria. http://www.refilwe.org
