South African Expats in New York Sing SA's National Anthem

Written by: Preneil Pillay

This past weekend South African-born (Joburg-bred) singer, songwriter and radio producer Lyla Illing hung out with a group of South African expats after the rugby to have a braai.

This was to celebrate the End of Summer Event. This is enough to give you _all the feels, but then you see Lyla (seen playing the guitar) and the group belt out Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika - ALL THE FEELS!

Lyla then took to Facebook to send this message:

“This is us saying it: We love YOU, South Africa!

“One thing I don’t say enough: I miss you. My friends and my family, my radio people and my friends in music. I miss you.

“Every day is a battle without you, but every night here is like a dream. ❤️ Thank you for standing by me. I feel it.”

Watch the video and try not to feel all the pride in the world.

We miss you all, too and thank you for keeping the spirit of South Africa high all around the world.

If you love South African's living abroad, 947 loves you.

Check out Lyla Illing, all the way in New York.
