Crowdfunding platform connects needy students with willing donors

Written by: Lengwadishang Ramphele

Feenix.org is a crowdfunding platform that allows students who need access to funds for fees to upload their profiles. It also allows individuals and businesses to go on the platform view the profiles, choose a student and donate to their outstanding fees.

Acting CEO at Feenix, Jayshree Naidoo, says the idea was to make the platform as easy as possible for anyone to use and real.

Donors are required to upload their information and will go through verification‚ according to the standards of the bank.

Fees Must fall all is something, but when you go to the platform and see real students with pictures and stories it makes it all real to an individual wanting to make a difference.

Jayshree Naidoo, Acting CEO at Feenix

According to Naidoo, to date, there are 16 students that have been fully funded since the start of Feenix a month ago.

She says one of their very first students who posted her profile got fully funded within weeks.

Naidoo urges corporates to donate to these students as part of their Mandela Day initiatives in the month of July.

Instead of 16 students lets take it up to 67 students and make every day a Mandela Day.

Anyone can donate from a minimum of R100.

All funds donated go directly towards university fees and not for any other student expenses.
