Organisation in the Spotlight: Greenpop

Written by: diannem

In 2010 the TreeEO of Greenpop, Misha Teasdale, decided to gather like-minded people in his circles to plant 1 000 trees in a month, and hasn't looked back since.

Since then, through various campaigns and projects, the team and supporters of Greenpop have planted over 71 000 trees, in 3 countries (South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania) benefiting 350 000 people at the same time.

So, why an entire organisation based on the idea of tree planting?

"Our planet wouldn't be home without them!"

Misha Teasdale

The Greenpop team host various festivals throughout the year which families, friends, and hard core tree activists are all welcome to join:

The Reforest Family Fest 10 - 12 March and the Reforest Friends Fest

Each March, the Greenpop teams bring families (Family Fest) and Friends (Friends Fest) back to nature to (re)connect, plant trees together, learn about nature, and enjoy themselves for an entire weekend camping under the stars, in the Platbos Forest Reserve, just 2.5 hours from Cape Town.

Greenpop Zambia!

Looking to head out a little further from home on your next adventure? Why not join the Greenpop team in Zambia and be part of the Festival of Action from 25 June to 16 July!

The festival brings people together from around the globe to learn, connect, give back and get active. Not only will you be planting trees, but learning about various other programs; bee keeping, regenerative agriculture, Eco-Enterprise and Systems Thinking Workshops, Film screenings and much, much more.

If you're unable to travel with the Greenpop team you can help out in other ways - by donating, gifting a tree to a loved one, or by fundraising for the organisation by starting your own project!
