Philanthropist, 9, who saves sick animals needs help

Written by: Lengwadishang Ramphele

The Hermanus Animal Welfare Society wants to raise fund for a courageous 9-year-old boy named Sipho.

According to Lenke Elferink, kennel and clinic manager at Hermanus Animal Welfare Society, Sipho arrived at their door step with a sick dog and asked them for a leash and dog food.

It turned out Sipho had three dogs that he was looking after named "Government", "Policeman" and "Social Worker".

As time went by, the little boy brought other boys and their dogs to also get a leash, dog food and treatment from the Animal Welfare Society but this was costing the organisation.

They then explained to Sipho that these services are not for free and that devastated him. Elferink says the following day Sipho arrived, picked up a broom and started helping out.

All the other boys also joined in to help clean the Hermanus Animal Welfare Society and in return their dogs are looked after by the organisation.

The funds raised will help put Sipho and his little friends through school and hopefully through university.

To make a contribution:

The Hermanus Animal Welfare Society, Standard Bank Cheque Account No.: 082263310, branch code 051001 and use "Siphos Fund" as your reference
