The 567 Cape Talk Breakfast team have taken on the task of helping out Kensington Home for the Aged. They are in serious debt and lack some key supplies (from panties, to geysers – everything is needed). We are aiming to assist them with sorting out their books as well as build capacity to ensure that the facility is better managed in the future. We visited the home yesterday. It was heart breaking to see and certainly affected us as a team.
Kieno Kammies spoke about our visit to the home on air today. We also spoke to MEC Albert Fritz about the situation from a capacity point of view and investigating the mismanagement of funds. Since then, we have received an inordinate amount of generous offers from listeners. Quite staggering.
We have been offered 6 TVs, a DSTV decoder, 2 tumble dryers, food, clothing, TV installation, laundry services, as well as the offer to pay for the DSTV subscription, and admin services from a retired banker.
Thank you for all the listeners who were willing and able to assist Kensington Home.
