South African learners to attend Usher’s World Leadership Conference in the U.S.

Full of excitement and joy, three local learners from the Peermont School Support Programme departed for the United States last week to take part in a global Youth Development Conference hosted by American Grammy Award winning singer, Usher.

The three learners; Ntombezinhle Manyathi (16) of Lethulwazi Comprehensive School in Vosloorus Ekurhuleni, and Ashlin (16) and Kalisha Bheemraj (15), both from Sunward Park High School in Boksburg, will attend Usher’s three day New Look Foundation Conference from 19 – 22 June in Atlanta, Georgia.

Over 1000 learners from around the world will attend the seminar which will provide a platform to interact with celebrities, musicians and influential people. The conference aims to educate and empower young people in the foundation’s four pillars; talent, education, career and service.

The event will conclude with a special concert “Usher and Friends Unplugged,” which will feature a high calibre of musicians and friends of Usher.  Participants will be able to impart skills and knowledge they acquired during their visit to their peers and communities upon their return to South Africa.

“Our learners will proudly fly the South African flag during their visit to the U.S.  Not only will Ntombezinhle, Ashlin and Kalisha gain invaluable knowledge and an experience of a lifetime, but they will share with their success-story with fellow learners upon return, inspiriting and motivating them to aim for excellence in whatever they do,” comments Peermont Corporate Affairs & CSI Executive, Vusi Zwane.

Peermont is delighted that Kalisha (15) and Ashlin Bheemraj (16), both from Sunward Park High School and Ntombezinhle Manyathi (16) of Lethulwazi Comprehensive School have been selected from the schools that benefit from the Peermont School Support Programme to experience firsthand life in the United States when they take part in a global Youth Development Conference in Georgia, Atlanta from June 19 to 23. These learners will be hosted by leading seven-time American Grammy Award winner singer Usher, at his Youth Leadership Development Academy during their stay in the US.
