Funding needed for an NGO to kids into FORMULA 1 Drivers.

Today’s Formula 1 drivers’ parade has no African nationals yet Africans love the sport and follow it religiously just like their counterparts in other corners of the world.

Formula 1 Drivers Incubators (FDI)’s objective is to produce F1 drivers who are African nationals. FDI will identify talented disadvantaged kids and teach them how to race starting with go-karts.

FDI will be conveniently located in Alexandra in Johannesburg South Africa which is one of the poorest townships. FDI, due to its location will attract largely young black drivers which will help in addressing diversity/transformation issues both in South Africa motor sport and at Formula 1 level. The focus of FDI will be talent rather than race hence all races will be accommodated.

FDI will initially work with 20 young drivers (of different age groups) who will jostle for 10 driving seats. Driving seats will be based on performance. As we get more funding and more instructors, and more space, numbers maybe increased accordingly.

FDI will participate in local motorsport races starting with go-kart. As drivers get older and with adequate funding FDI will get involved into other local motorsport racing such Formula Volkswagen.

FDI intends to build relationships with FIA, Formula 1 team, GP2 and GP3 teams and Formula Renault teams in order to expose our drivers.

Today’s Formula 1 drivers are multi – millionaires and they all started with go-karting. FDI can transform disadvantaged kids into successful racers be it formula 1, lemans or any form of motorsport.

We need at least 20 karts and money to buy land and build the center.
