Giftwishonline.com Team and Siyamthanda deliver Winter Boxes to Tsakane orphans.

Giftwishonline.com teamed up with Siyamthanda Care Projects to make a difference this winter to indigent and orphaned children in Tsakane, on the east rand.

Giftwishonline.com is a unique social gift wish site allowing its users to create and share their gift wishes.  It has incorporated a Charity Page where various charities representing different causes, including Siyamthanda, showcase their wish lists.  This allows users to see what the needs of each charity are and how they are able to make a difference.

The Giftwish Team set about putting together a Winter Box for each child.  Siyamthanda earmarked 28 orphaned and indigent children, some who are handicapped, who needed the most assistance in Tsakane. The children ranged from ages 1 to 17.  The boxes were marked with each child’s name, gender and age.  Giftwish made an appeal to the public through its website and social networks.

South Africans proved once again how generous and giving they are.  We received very generous donations of all items required.  Each box was filled with a blanket, warm clothing, winter water bottle, food items and toys.  Each box was personalised and age related.

On Saturday, 12th May, the Giftwish and Siyamthanda teams visited the Menzi Children’s Home for the handover to the children.  The children got to enjoy some cake and refreshments before the big handover.  The children couldn’t contain their excitement, each wanting to open their box.  The big moment had arrived.

It was overwhelming to see their beautiful smiles when opening their boxes and seeing their gifts.  It was wonderful to be able to make a difference to these children this winter.

We applaud the work of Matshidiso Mokope who looks after 12 of the children chosen at the Menzi Children’s Home, the foster parents and Thandeka Eudoxia Mzizi, founder of Siyamthanda Care Projects who does invaluable work in the community.  We thank all the donors without whom this event would not have been possible.  We thank those that assisted in the collection process and at the event, as well as our Giftwish angels and Giftwishonline Team.
