The Peninsula All Suite Hotel, renowned for its dedication to CSI and social development programmes, has championed a number of charity campaigns during April as part of an increased drive to combine the hospitality industry with making a difference.
Uniting with the CANSA TLC (Tough Living with Cancer), the Peninsula made a special birthday wish come true for Anneqah Barends who celebrated her 16th birthday party with 11 of her closest friends and family at the Peninsula on April 14.
Anneqah’s dream of having her birthday looking over a pool was fulfilled at the Peninsula, allowing the Sunset Deck restaurant to be the ideal venue for this memorable occasion with tables decorated in her favourite blue and white colours complete with a sweet 16 birthday cake.
CANSA TLC is a non-profit organization which aims to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa through enabling research, informing and educating the public and providing support to all those affected by the disease. Not only providing tools for early detection and awareness, CANSA TLC is a support program for children and teens diagnosed with cancer or affected by a family member who has cancer.
Meanwhile 13 of the hotel’s staff members also took part in the Spar Ladies Challenge in Green Point on April 15, successfully completing the 5km in support of Operation Smile, an international children’s charity providing reconstructive surgery to children born with facial deformities.
Putting muscle into their CSI initiatives, the Peninsula also donated gym equipment to REALISTIC, a life skills training centre which offers hope to young offenders and youth at risk, enabling them to reintegrate into mainstream society.
“Our philosophy of giving back is integral to our development as a hotel, a community and a society, which is something that defines and completes our everyday activities,” says Chris Godenir, Peninsula Hotel General Manager who, as Three Cities Hotel’s “Soul Man” has become synonymous with helping others, offering support to foundations such as Red Cross Children’s Hospital, the Starfish Foundation, the SOS Children’s Village and StreetSmart.
