TEAM SA’s medal winners at the London 2012 Olympic Games will return home on Tuesday morning at 8.20am.
The public has been urged to give them a heroes welcome at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
LEAD SA in partnership with the Department of Sport/ Recreation and SASCOC supported by ACSA are arranging the welcome home.
Silver medalist, Caster Semenya, the “Golden” rowing team of Sizwe Lawrence, Ndlovu Matthew Brittain, James Thompson and John Smith and bronze medalist in K-1 500m kayak event, Bridgitte Hartley, will arrive on flight SA 237 from London at 8.20am.
Other TEAM SA team members will touch down on flight SA 235 scheduled for 7.20am.
Swimmers Cameron v d Burgh and Chad Le Clos who returned home on Thursday will be at the airport to join the other medalists.
Supporters have been asked to bring their posters, banners, vuvuzelas and SA colours to welcome TEAM SA home.
LEAD SA says the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula, the SASCOC leadership and the medalists will address crowds. This will be followed by a media briefing.
